Local Businesses Enhance Safety with the Installation of a Defibrillator in Charter Avenue Industrial Estate

In a bid to enhance safety across the local business community, FPM, a construction firm, and Ambiance Flooring, a specialist flooring company, have jointly installed a defibrillator at Unit 2, Charter Avenue Industrial Estate. The life-saving device will be available to employees and the wider business community within the estate, offering a crucial tool in the event of a cardiac emergency.

According to the British Heart Foundation (BHF), over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year in the UK. Without immediate intervention, the survival rate is less than 1 in 10. The BHF stresses that every minute without treatment decreases the chance of survival by 10%. A defibrillator can be critical in restoring a person’s heart rhythm while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

This new installation will serve more than 50 businesses within the estate, significantly improving access to life-saving equipment.

Robert Villette, Managing Director of FPM, explained the personal motivation behind the initiative:

“Both my colleague Jacky Cook and I have experienced heart problems firsthand. After fully recovering, we know how vital quick action can be in saving a life. By installing this defibrillator, we’re providing our business community with an essential resource to protect lives in case of an emergency.”

He added, “The nearest defibrillator was previously located at Tile Hill station. By having one directly on the estate, we hope to make a real difference when time is of the essence.”

Clayton Teggin, Director of Ambiance Flooring, echoed these sentiments:
“I’ve also faced heart issues myself and understand how suddenly these situations can arise. We’ll be contacting all businesses on the estate to make them aware of the defibrillator’s location. It’s also registered with the emergency services, so in the event of a 999 call, responders will be directed to it if necessary.”
